6. Danish Cancer Society, Institute of Cancer Epidemiology (DCS), Denmark (withdrawn on 31/12/2010)

The Institute of Cancer Epidemiology is one of two research institutes of the Danish Cancer Society. During the last five years it has employed, on average, about 65 staff members, most of them researchers, and published more than 450 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The Institute is involved in several large-scale international epidemiological projects; some prominent current ones include late effects of childhood cancer survivors, vaccination against HPV to protect against cervical cancer and a cohort study of mobile phone users. The Institute of Cancer Epidemiology consists of five research departments and two research programmes, all led by epidemiologists at professorial level who have experience in leading international projects.
